Clayton Homes for Sale
Ranked by Businessweek as one of the “most affordable places for families to live and assure a top education for their children,” Clayton is one of the fastest growing communities in the state. The town is located in Johnston County, roughly 20 miles southeast of Raleigh.
For Nature Enthusiasts and Golfers
With its motto, “the premier community for active families,” Clayton is a paradise for those who love nature and seek adventure. You can explore and hike at Clemmons State Forest, which offers nature enthusiasts amazing rock formations, well-marked trails, and an enjoyable rolling terrain. The area is also part of the statewide Mountain to the Sea Trail, which is great for hiking and backpacking. Clayton’s River Walk on the Neuse is part of this long-distance trail, which runs all across North Carolina from the Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks.
Clayton is also a golfer’s delight. Neuse Golf Club, Pine Hollow Golf Club, and Riverwood Golf Club are some of the golfing communities just outside downtown Clayton that offer tournament caliber golf. The town also has a variety of shops, restaurants, and other entertainment options that has shoppers and visitors coming over from other towns and cities. The centerpiece of downtown is the Clayton Center Performing Arts Venue, where you can enjoy a concert or host special events and meetings.
Clayton also has a seasonal farm and community market where you can sample local seasonal produce such as honey, mushrooms, vegetables, and other farm products and crafts. Clayton, along with other towns along US 301, also takes part in the annual 301 Endless Yard Sale, which takes places in the third weekend every June.
A Close-Knit Community
If you are looking for strong value, Clayton’s combination of custom-built homes, highly rated schools, and convenient location (it’s near Research Triangle Park) makes it a definite must-see. Not only is Clayton accessible and relatively close to Raleigh, it also has a close-knit and welcoming community.
