- Explore easy and relaxing trails
The park’s casual hiking and running trails are its best-known attraction. The east side features 2.8 miles of paved trail, while the west side brings you closer to nature with 1.5 miles of unpaved trail. The paths are conducive to soothing and peaceful walks, with ample leafy canopies providing plenty of shade. Bikers are also welcome to traverse the paved greenway and woodchip trail leading to the boardwalk.
- Take family and friends on a picnic
Invite family and friends for a charming lakeside get-together. Lake Johnson Park’s picnic shelters are available for rent and can accommodate up to 20 persons for $7 an hour, or up to 35 people for just $9 an hour. The shelters, while already roofed, also benefit from natural shade and fresh breezes from the adjacent lakefront. Tables and grills are provided.
- Hop on a boat and explore the waters
Whether you bring your own boat or prefer to rent, Lake Johnson welcomes visitors to sail across its calm and mirror-like waters. Johnboats, canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and paddleboards are available for rent. While aboard your vessel, go fishing. You’ll find plenty of largemouth bass, catfish, crappie, carp, shell cracker, and bream in these waters.

That’s right! There are classes you can take on Lake Johnson Park. Pick a fun course like gardening, fishing, nature photography, navigation, and environmental education for children.
